Healthy Pizza Recipe
I wasn't sure if I should have titled this 'Healthy' Pizza Recipe, with quotes, as I'm not entirely sure there is such a thing as healthy pizza - there's really just pizza that won't kill you as fast as other pizzas. Calories, fats, carbohydrates - all of these get a lot of attention, while not nearly enough is paid to sodium levels; I'd read that we typically eat two to three times as much salt in a day as we should. One of the best ways to avoid this is to use as many non-processed ingredients as possible, though I'll leave you to figure out what you can realistically prepare fresh from the following recipe (I've left out amounts and cooking time - time will vary depending on the crust, and as far as how many olives to use... well, how much do you like olives?):
"Pizza That Won't Kill You As Fast As Other Pizza Will"
Whole wheat Pizza pie crust OR Whole wheat Pita bread
Pasta Sauce OR Pesto Sauce
Sliced and pitted Green Olives
Cheese - your choice, Old Cheddar and even Feta work well
Sliced Green Peppers
Sliced Red Peppers
Hot Peppers
Sliced Chicken (usually one chicken breast is sufficient per pizza)
Thinly Sliced Mushrooms
Pizza on the right is made with a Pesto base; same ingredients, works perfectly.
