Three lousy films were on television Sunday - Navy SEALs, Godzilla (the North American remake), and Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong. I like Navy SEALs because it's Plan 9 From Outer Space bad - there's one scene that's introduced/subtitled as 'Seal Command Center'; they didn't capitalize all the letters in 'Seal'?!? I guess meaning it was run by actual seals! And then there was a whole lot of other stuff in that film that was enjoyably bad.
Anyways, Godzilla was crap because the producers didn't realize that whether Godzilla is attacking a city or defending one, we (the audience) like him. A lot. And they made him the bad guy. Also, it was crap for the same reason Kong was crap - CGI sucks. The best CGI in the world looks like CGI, and that's all it looks like. If they really wanted to give Godzilla chicken legs, they should've just dressed a chicken up in a rubber dinosaur suit and sent him running through a scaled down street.
And King Kong just looked like a giant animated graphic. Hollywood sucks.
